Today is beautiful. Not real warm but at least we have sun. I am pleased with my weight loss I have dropped 4 lbs so that is good. I figure if I can lose 2lbs a week, I'm doing good. So 4 is just icing on the proverbial cake. I need to get back to eating my potato in the evenings. I do think that it helps with the cravings. I have started writing down everything I eat. it does seem to help and I find if I do it right a way instead of all at night I keep a better record. It's so easy to forget a bite of this or that. So basically I'm counting points or calories (points is easy) and eating whatever I want. I am trying to eat less sugar and that seems to be working for me. I am eating popcorn. funny how just having popcorn while watching a video feels like a real treat.

On another note I am trying to organize my life. Watching my spending and getting my craft area cleaned up. I'd like to get busy with photos and sewing but until my space is de-cluttered, I have no room to play.

I will try and post a few times a week with little notes of inspiration. If anyone has anything to offer post a comment I'd love to hear from you. A friend and I have decided to weigh only once a week and contact each other to keep track our own little weight club. If your intrested just join my blog.

Hello Everybody, I've been on a motorcycle trip with my hubby for a week it was a blast. I don't believe I gained any weight while on vacation. I tried to stay away from the sweets only had a butterfinger and a brownie in a whole week (as far as sweets go)so that is pretty good. my goal is to lose 50 lbs by next year. It will make biking so much easier. I did have breakfast every morning and tried to have a good dinner.but I did eat late and it's hard to eat vegitables when camping. we did have a lot of bratwurst. When I could I did eat salad and fruit.

So now that I'm home I am back on it. I will keep posting as to my ups and downs. Right now I need to unpack and do the bills yuck!

Happy Independence Day

Well today I had a little bit of everything including Wacky Cake, Kettle Corn, Spicy Hot dogs, Potato Salad and a Green Salad. Happy Fourth! I want to say a personal thank you to all the men and women who serve and have served. With out them none of us would have the freedom to choose anything. It is so important not to forget what they have gone through and continue to go through for our freedoms. On this day and everyday we need to pray for them and their families. Heck the way the country is heading it wouldn't hurt to pray for us all!

I have nothing more to say today. Enjoy your holiday and remember to pray for our soldiers and country.

Protien is key

It is very important to have enough protien. I didn't realise how much my body actually needs. It is a good rule of thumb to take your total body weight, divide by 2 and multiply by .5. That means if you are 200 lbs you would need 50 grams of protien a day. Divide that by the number of meals you eat. That would mean you would need 16.6 grams per meal. If you eat 3 meals a day. Seems like a lot. Also if you eat dessert eat it with your meal. Do not eat it first. Make sure to eat it last. This all gets a little crazy but the important thing is to keep trying.

I did eat a piece of my dads pie. I tried to eat the non sugar stuff but lets face it. If I'm going to indulge in a dessert it better be a good one. It was my dad's 62nd bday and my parents 45th anniversary after all.

Celebration is over now back to the program. I feel pretty good that I only ate a slice and not the whole pie. Baby steps! I was very tired after eating the sugar and had a headache. I guess my biggest fear is that I will do well with the program and then go right back to my old ways. I'm tired.

Lemon Pie is better with Sugar!!!

Well I tried to make it with out sugar. First I tried to make it with raw Stevia and a thickener called Konjac glucomannan. YUCK it was horrible. Then I tried it with just the Stevia and corn starch recipe. It thickened very nicely and had a very creamy texture but did leave an after taste similar to Splenda. The meringue was beautiful all fluffy but it too needed the sugar. So I have decided that when baking sugar is better. I have used Splenda for cookies and they were fine. but with lemon pie it is mostly sugar. What does that mean for me? Well I don't believe I am strong enough to not eat the pie if I bake it so baking for me will be very limited. A special occasion like the holidays or birthdays only. I could probably get out of baking all together since my youngest loves to bake. I will let him be THE BAKER. He is learning so sometimes it doesn't always turn out. His last cookie recipe he put in 1/2 cup of baking soda instead of 1/2 teaspoon. He caught it before he baked but they were still pretty awful. He's only 10.
Something to take note of. While baking the pies I did taste them to check the difference and I now have a headache. I'm watching tv and tearing up too. Could be that I haven't had sugar since Monday or it could be the sugar that I tasted today. Either way I am noticing the effects that sugar or lack there of does effect me.
Today is a good day! Got up this morning and the scale was saying I'm down Yippee. I do not feel deprived at all. I did want a cupcake last night but I ate my potatoe instead and viola the lbs are coming off. I have made a point of eating breakfast and snacking on nuts when hungry. Plus I am getting in some excersize every day. I am going to the movie today so I am bringing a baggie of soynut, almonds and cranberries. I figure if I can have a little snack the popcorn won't be calling to me. I am making dinner for my family's 45th anniversary going to do sugar free pie. Hopefully it will taste good. I'm more worried about the pie setting up. I'll keep you posted.
In the book now it is talking about how sugar effects the brain and the Beta-endorphine response. It's all very interesting. It is easy to understand and I highly reccomend this read. if for nothing else than to see if any of it pertains to you. The next chapter is on the foods that we should eat if we are sugar sensitive. I am excited to get there but have a lot to do today so will have to read it later.
